Why did Communist China outdone USSR while the latter had become defunct?

Communist China is not the same as it was during the Soviet era. China has adopted capitalism within a communistic structure. Today there is private business in China and they have gone far away from communist principles. The Communist Party still runs China but the social welfare system has diminsihed. People are more interested in making money than in receiving services today. The state is even supporting private enterprise today and allowing foreign companies to open up factories in China. The Chinese benefit from this because there are more jobs for the workers and more and more foreign capital is being brought into China.
