What is the best bet (peak time) for leaf peeking in NH? Between Sept 2nd weeknd - 1st weekend of Oct?

I am trying to co-ordinate a foliage trip to NH for a friend from west coast and want him to get the best out of the trip.. Would appreciate your help as I myself have never made it to NH. Thank you so much!
