Why doesnt' Superman help Gotham City?

Metropolis may be the light side to Gotham's dark, but it still has crime. I doubt Superman has any time to really stop and help Batman, as if Batman would even ask for help. Besides, Batman has it under control with Robin, Nightwing (Batman), Oracle, and others...
