At MEPS, why do they frequently change your height or weight without verification or permission from you?

They changed my height by making me an inch shorter so I could in process because I was underweight for entry. They measured my height and then weighed me- they gave me a month to gain seven pounds. When I couldn't- they just changed my height on the medical record to ship me. I believe it makes the applicant more appealing to them.
