What are 'scalloped bands'?

In Dorothy Parker's poem, Afternoon, she says "I'll comb my hair in scalloped bands". This is a really old poem and I'm uming this is some kind of way they did their hair in the 20's-30's? But I can't find anything about it online. I need to know for a project.. so if you have any idea please let me know!
