Haggling a beach house price?

So my dad thinks it's a great idea for call 2 days before we are leaving for northcarolina OBX to call the person (who we want to rent the house from ) and tell them we will pay 1000, for a 2 or 3k house.. He honestly will do this unless i can prove that it wont work before hand..can someone help me prove to him it wont work?
